Not what you were thinking...
On Valentines Day - for Brandon's Birthday - we decided to officially adopt Lily.
The poor thing has had such a rough life living a good chunk of it being perpetually boarded. No one wanted her until she found us. She had been given all sort of food that unsettled her stomach to the point that she was constantly ill. She was scared of people and men in particular. She was aggressive to all other dogs and wasn't getting anywhere fast.
That was until the Thanksgiving before last when she came to our house "for the weekend."
She quickly bonded with Brandon and over the next year we brought her to showings at PetsMart every other weekend hoping she would find a forever home.
Over that time we began training her - taking her to group sessions with other dogs. Teaching her to get along with Lacey - which she does swimmingly now. We found her food and what to feed her and settled her stomach. We've gone months at a time without a vomit caused by bad food. She got fixed up at the vet for a fractured tooth which was causing her major pain. We grew to love her cuddling with us under the covers, her need to find attention any chance she can get. Her ability to lay all day by the heater to keep warm. Over a year we helped her teach us to love her. Over the last year we realized that her search for a forever home had really ended almost before it began.
She already was home.
Welcome home, Suh (our nickname for her - Lily - Pily - Pill - the Pill - Suh Pill - hence - Suh)
ohhhh, she looks just like you. My one and only meeting with the Pill was a good experience, I quite liked her, congratulations on the "new" addition.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us adopt her honey! She is a good girl and deserves a good home.
ReplyDeleteThat made me cry. I might have to start liking her, but frankly she scares me. OK I'l try.
