Will you go to the dance with me?

Here is a fun teacher story for you. A week or so ago a couple of students came to me and asked if they could ask a couple of boys to the dance through my next test. Basically put questions on the test that ask them. I said I would do it.

Today was test day.

I handed out the test giving a knowing nod to the only girl of the two askers that is in my class. Then we all sat and waited. His desk was particularly close to mine so I could keep an eye on him. When he turned to the last page where the questions were he got the goofiest grin on his face.

Then suddenly it was awkward, and thus the fun part for me, I haven't mentioned that the girl that asked him is sitting right next to him. He didn't look up he didn't acknowledge that the question was there. He just smiled. He gathered his stuff he needed to turn in and brought it to me. He then when back to his desk and put his head down. Nothing was said at all! It was so strange and cute at the same time. Goofy grin kid is too embarrassed to say anything at all. The whole class was quiet. Those who had finished the test before him were looking at him to see his reaction. It was a very awkward silence.

Anyway the class is gone now and I looked on the test to see what he answered. He didn't put anything.

  1. i can't believe he didn't put anything, maybe he just didn't want you to know his answer. That was nice of you to help out.

  2. Oh, please! Honestly, why don't high schoolers actually ask the person to their face rather than setting up crap like this? It must be a Utah thing. And like many "Utah things" it makes me want to throw up.
